Greetings from Texas...

After a quick nap, Flat Stanley wanted to explore the nature trail near our house in Cedar Park, TX.  Here are a few photos of his first adventure in Texas.

I really enjoyed peeking through the gate of the Good Friday Cave.

There are lots of cool rocks to climb on the trail.

I was careful to not get too close to the cactus!

I had a fun First Day of Spring in Texas.

I found a great tree to climb.

Greetings from Virginia...

Hello London! My name is Alyssa Neal and I am a 19 (almost 20) year old college student here in Fredericksburg VA. Fredericksburg is a quite little town, not much goes on here, but it is a very important town. It was founded in 1728! So, a long time ago in Fredericksburg a battle during the Civil War took place here. There are a lot of really neat battlefields you can visit and learn so much at. Here, a lot of people enjoy their time on the Rappahannock River. During the summer months you will see a lot of people swimming, boating, tubing, or fishing. Its very pretty! I hope you enjoy your Flat Stanley photos, we've had a awesome time taking pictures! Here are 3 to get you updated, and there are plenty more on the way! It started snowing today, so Im sure later he will have some fun in the snow! Have a great day!

Picture 1:
Flat Stanley went to school with me at Germanna Community College, here in Fredericksburg Virginia. We enjoyed taking a psychology class and learning history together. We took lots of notes and even went to a Photography Club Meeting.

Picture 2:
Flat Stanley enjoyed going to the library with me today as well. We signed my little brother up for a library card, and let him pick out some cool books to read for the snow day coming up.

Picture 3:
This is Regal Cinemas, a movie theatre here in Virginia. Flat, Myself, and a friend went to go see the new movie "Divergent". We ate a lot of popcorn and Pepsi and really enjoyed ourselves!

Greetings from Canada...

Dear Phoenix and Classmates,

Thank you for inviting me to join your Flat Stanley project.  I live in Ontario, Canada, not far from one of the world's largest water falls, Niagara Falls.  There are two sides to Niagara Falls, because they form the border between the United States and Canada.  The American Falls are on one side, and the Canadian side is called Horseshoe Falls, because it is in the shape of a big horseshoe.

Even though it is Spring, it is still very cold here, and much of the water is covered in snow and ice.  Because of all the ice and frozen mist created by the waterfalls, Flat Stanley couldn't get very close, and he was very cold, because he didn't have a winter coat and hat!  We hope you can see the waterfalls in the background of our picture!

Our region of Ontario is called the Niagara Region, named after the Falls.  Besides the waterfalls, our region is also known for agriculture, especially grapes used to make wine.  There are also many orchards, where farmers grow peaches, plums, cherries, apples, and pears.  While it is very cold all Winter and we have lots of snow, our Summers are still hot enough to grow theses fruits.

I hope you enjoyed learning about the Niagara Region, and Niagara Falls.  I will try to take Flat Stanley to some other interesting places soon.

Sincerely,
Katie Marrone
Ridgeville, Ontario

Greetings from California...

Flat Stanley has enjoyed his visit to California.
I live in San Diego in an old house downtown. To celebrate Flat Stanley's arrival here, I had a party. I invited some friends and family and Flat Stanley helped us grill steaks in the back yard.

My cat and Flat Stanley became friends and spent hours together.

I am an artist. We took Flat Stanley with us to a few art openings. At an art show, artists like to have an opening reception so that we can meet other people who love art.

I like to do my work on location. I am a landscape painter. So I took Flat Stanley out to paint with me one day.
Sometimes we had to run errands. Laundry and the car wash. I needed to buy some bubble wrap to mail a painting to my art gallery.

But it was not always work. We had fun too. We went to a play with a friend and got an extra ticket for Flat Stanley. Flat Stanley seemed a little bored. Sometimes I think plays are boring too.

Flat Stanley also got to go on a road trip. We took Flat Stanley to Los Angeles. Flat Stanley posed in front of the Hollywood Sign, but it's hard to read on the hills behind him. While we were in Los Angeles, we went to an outside mall called The Grove. Flat Stanley got tired while shopping and needed a nap.
Later that night, Flat Stanley joined us at a Jennifer Nettles concert. Flat Stanley has decided to stay in California. He has enrolled in the local college and is looking for an apartment near the beach. What do you think he plans to study?

Greetings from the USC Gamecocks...

Ms. Hilldrup and Nick:
Flat Stanley has had a great time while he was in Columbia, South Carolina.  He spent most of his time at Carolina Stadium, where our National Championship baseball team plays!
Flat Stanley started his day in the weight room.  He took turns with the baseball players doing different exercises being instructed by the strength and conditioning coach.

Next, Flat Stanley went down to the field for batting practice.  He helped the coaches throw batting practice to help the team get warmed up.

After batting practice, Flat Stanley was ready to take the mound.  He was able to pitch a couple of fast balls but his slider was by far the best.  He struck out a couple of big hitters!

Flat Stanley worked up an appetite and stopped by the Oriental Kitchen stand on the way out of practice.  He had the chicken fried rice!

Flat Stanley’s favorite part of his stay with jumping on the National Championship dog pile when he was leaving the stadium.  He did say he felt a little overdressed.

Thanks for letting Flat Stanley come stay with us in Columbia, SC!
